12:35 PM-- With wins on his last three holes Robert Allenby looks to get his first round win rapped up as he takes Peter Hanson 5 down with 5 to play.
12:45 PM-- With a birdie on 7 and an eagle on 8 Rory McIlroy has roared back into the match cutting Kevin Na's lead to 2up
12:50 PM-- At the turn Ian Poulter finds himself in a bit of trouble, 2 down, to the shifty short hitter, Justin Leonard; while on the other side of the bracket, Geoff Ogilvy seems to have his opening match well in hand.
1:00 PM-- After a tough start to the 2010 season Adam Scott appears to be righting the ship in his opening round match against two time major winner Angel Cabrera. Scott is 2 up through 10 holes.
1:10 PM-- Italian brothers, Francesco and Edoardo Molinari, take leads in their opening matches against past major winners, Zach Johnson and Stewart Cink. How far can the brothers go? I wonder if they're playing for who has to do the dishes after Christmas dinner.
1:15 PM-- Robert Allenby becomes the first winner of the opening round (Ben Crane aside), taking care of Peter Hanson 4&2 in a match Allenby had complete control over from the start.
1:30 PM-- About half way through their rounds, match play veterans Paul Casey and Geoff Ogilvy continue to build crushing leads of 4up and 6up respectively over their unfortunate first round opponents.
2:00 PM-- Weir and Ogilvy continued their routs on their first round opponents leading to eventual wins. Brian Gay, Luke Donald, Camilo Villegas, and Adam Scott all closed out their first round opponents as well.

2:45 PM-- Thongchai Jaidee takes advantage of 5 bogies from Ross Fisher in his first 7 holes to go 4 up.
2:50 PM-- Oliver Wilson drains 40 foot swinger for birdie to close out the Mechanic 4&2.
2:51 PM-- Matt Kuchar lets 4 foot birdie putt slide by but Anthony Kim returns the favor missing a par put from the same distance.
2:55 PM-- Tim Clark is playing a yellow golf ball... need I say anything more?
3:00 PM-- Harrington's group is on the clock as he lets another round slide away. Deja Vu?
3:05 PM-- The overall number one seed Steve Stricker is off to a 2up through 3 holes start over Ross McGowan.
3:06 PM-- After forcing extra holes, Justin Leonard pumped one out of play and was forced to take an unplayable on the 19th while Poulter stuffed one to about 4 feet. Poulter wins!
3:10 PM-- McIlroy comes back from 4 down to advance to round two over Kevin Na with a par on the 18th while Kevin Na's tee ball finds the rubbish and leads to a bogey.
3:15 PM-- Anthony Kim drives the 15th green to apply the pressure to Matt Kuchar late in the match.
3:20 PM-- Padraig Harrington misses a 10 footer for par while smooth stroking Jeev Milkha Singh misses a 5 footer that would have won the match.
3:21 PM- Zach Johnson fights of F. Molinari to win his opening match on the 21st hole.
3:30 PM-- This may be Matt Kuchar's first time at this event but the veteran match player and 1997 US Amateur Champion takes out Anthony Kim in the first round.
3:35 PM-- Harrington falls to J.M. Singh in the first round. This marks the second consecutive year Padraig fails to advance out of the first round.
3:45 PM-- 2009 PGA Champion Y.E. Yang andvances to the second round by tapping in for par to win over Soren Kjeldsen 2&1.
4:25 PM-- I wonder what went through Vijay Singh's head when Tim Clark announced on the first tee that he would be playing a yellow Srixon?
4:30 PM-- Els misses a 3 footer to ice his first round match with Ryan Moore as the duo moves on to the 15th with Els 4 up.
5:00 PM-- Thank you everyone for tuning in to the live blog today. It was truly a great day for golf. Please be sure to check back with us tomorrow and let me know if you have any questions!
1:30 PM-- Welcome back to what is shaping up to be a great day of golf in Arizona.
1:35 PM-- In the early matches, Mike Weir looks to have made all of his birdies yesterday as he finds himself 5 down through 8 to last year's runner up Paul Casey.
1:40 PM-- Luke Donald is also opening up strong with four birdies in his first 8 holes to take a commanding 4 up lead through 10 holes over Robert Allenby.
2:20 PM-- Luke Donald is the first to close out a match today routing Robert Allenby 6&5.

3:10 PM-- McIlroy drained a 8 foot putt to extend his match against Oliver Wilson to the 19th.
3:45 PM-- Wilson squeeks past McIlroy with a near chip in eagle on the 20th hole of the second round match.
4:00 PM-- Just got a good look at South Africa's Charl Schwartzel and he is either wearing a black undershirt, or is the hariest human to touch a club in 2000 years. Either way he's handling 1 seed Jim Furyk well, 2 up through 11 holes today.
4:05 PM-- Question of the day: If you were playing Ben Crane in match play, would you give him everything inside of 5 feet just so you wouldn't have to wait for him to line it up?
5:30 PM-- Thank you for everyone who tuned into our blog today. We will be back with you again for tomorrows matches as the cream continues to rise to the top in this year's Accenture Match Play Championship.
3:00 PM-- Hello everyone and welcome back to the WGC-Accenture Match Play Live Blog. Another beautiful day in Marana, AZ today, but the winds are picking up more than the first 2 days.
Before we get started with updates on the matches, a couple thoughts on this morning's public appearance by Tiger Woods. Personally, I felt like he did his best to convey sadness and contrition for his actions. I know that Tiger normally doesn't show his emotions on the course, but this is about as close as we'll get to him showing us inside the vault that has been his personal life. There were points in the speech that seemed rehearsed, like looking into the camera every time he said "I'm sorry." He had typed up his whole speech, and recited it to the cameras verbatim, which lost him some points in the eyes of many professionals in the business world. The major question going into the appearance was when Tiger will return to golf. About 10 minutes into his speech, he said "I do plan to return to golf one day. I just don't know when that day will be. I don't rule out it will be this year." Tiger seems to want to repair his marriage before he makes a return to the game of golf. His wife Elin needs to make sure he won't make these same mistakes again and can trust him going back out on the road 16 weeks a year. He said he "has a lot of work to do" and vows to now "lead a life of integrity." If he does come back this year, look for him to come back at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, but don't be surprised if he takes the whole year away from the game. He said he would show Elin he has changed by his actions, and stepping away from the game that has brought him fame and success over his lifetime is the first step.
3:02 PM-- Here are some updates on the matches so far. Thongchai Jaidee continues to make an assault on the field by leading teenager Ryo Ishikawa 1 up through 6. Ian Poulter continues to look good against Jeev Milkha Singh leading 3 up through 6. Nick Watney is 2 down to Retief Goosen, who shows no signs of fatigue after a 20 hole battle against countryman Ernie Els yesterday. Ben Crane's cinderella run continues against Camilo Villegas today, but he is 1 down through 3. Tim Clark is 2 down at the turn to Sergio Garcia. Charl Schwartzel and Stewart Cink are in a stalemate after 7. Paul Casey looks like the favorite of the tournament after 2 rounds, and he leads 1 up through 7 over Brian Gay. Ryder Cup teammates Luke Donald and Oliver Wilson are in a battle early, as Wilson leads 2 up through 9.
3:09 PM--Tim Clark continues to make his run through the bracket playing his yellow Srixon. I don't know if I could bring myself to play a yellow ball, even if it helped me putt better......ok I lied. I would definitely play it if it helped me lower my scores.
3:11 PM-- Opposite the WGC Match Play is the Mayakoba Classic where we have Ohioans Joe Ogilvie and Chris Wilson are in the field this week. Ogilvie shot a 2 under 69 in the first round, and is currently 3 under for the tournament through 8 holes today. Chris Wilson currently stands at 2 under after firing back to back rounds of 70. He is currently above the cut line, which is at 1 under. Ohios Golf will be sure to keep you updated with Ogilvie and Wilson's standings on the leaderboard throughout the day. For people who use Twitter, follow Chris Wilson (@TheRealCWilson) as he gives updates on his life on the PGA TOUR.
3:23 PM-- Tim Clark makes a 4 footer to win the 11th hole to decrease his deficit to 1 down. It's only a matter of time before he wins on tour. He vas very close to winning at the Bob Hope Classic this year, and don't be surprised if he takes home a W this year.
3:36 PM-- Oliver Wilson misses a 12 footer to halve the hole against Luke Donald. Wilson still leads 1 up. Although Wilson has not won an event as a professional, he possesses the game and talent to win eventually. He made the Ryder Cup for the European side in 2008, the first person to be on a European Ryder Cup team without any worldwide professional wins.
3:51 PM-- All of the matches besides the 2 in the Bobby Jones bracket can go either way. No one holds more than a 2 up lead, with the Clark and Garcia match being all square. We're in for a treat this afternoon as these matches progress through the back 9.
4:03 PM-- Should the PGA TOUR worry about Ben Crane making it to the 36 hole day tomorrow? He might not be able to finish by sunset if he plays both rounds tomorrow.
4:06 PM-- Luke Donald dodges a major bullet as Oliver Wilson misses a short par putt that would have won the hole. Donald remains 1 down with 6 to play. If he wants to make the Elite 8, now is the time to make his move.
4:12 PM-- MAYAKOBA UPDATE: Ohioan Joe Ogilvie is 2 under on his second round (thru 12), and 4 under overall. He is currently T24 and 6 shots behind co-leaders Joe Durant and J.P. Hayes. Chris Wilson is comfortably above the cut line at 2 under for the tournament, currently T50.
4:20 PM-- Ryo Ishikawa has had better days on the course. He is currently 5 down through 11 after hitting his second shot O.B. on the par 5. Thongchai Jaidee's foot might fit the glass slipper if he continues his extraordinary solid play.
4:23 PM-- Stewart Cink v. Charl Schwartzel match has had a lot of fireworks today. Cink has won 5 holes, Schwartzel has won 4 holes, and only 4 holes have been halved. Cink is 1 up with 5 holes to play.
4:30 PM-- If Paul Casey advances past the 14th hole in his next match, it will be foreign territory for him this week. In his first 2 matches, Casey has made quick work of both his opponents, beating them 5 and 4. He is currently 4 up through 12 on Brian Gay, and doesn't look like he will be playing the last 4 holes today, either. Hopefully this streak can continue for him through the weekend.
4:41 PM-- The greens are baking out in the Desert sun, and getting a crispy brown color along the edges, like the greens during major championships do. The course could be playing a brutal 7,833 yards by Sunday afternoon.
4:45 PM-- Paul Casey is the first to close out his opponent on Friday. He defeated Brian Gay 5&4, the same margin as his first 2 opponents. He will face the winner of the Stewart Cink / Charl Schwartzel match.
4:46 PM--Â Sergio Garcia makes birdie on the 17th hole to close out Tim Clark 2&1. He will face the winner of the Oliver Wilson / Luke Donald match. Wilson is currently AS through 15.
