Ohio Scores Head South at Northern Trust
Written by Shea McMahon
Steve Stricker' s spectacular four-round showing stole the show at the Northern Trust Open. For Ohioans, the Northern Trust Open saw their scores turned south, as just one Buckeye Stater made the cut at Riviera CC.
That Ohioan was Ben Curtis. The former Kent State Golden Flash and Ostrander native posted four-day scores of 73-68-75-70 on the par 71 course to finish in a tie for 61st place.
Jason Dufner missed the cut after posting two-day tallies of 71-74 as the only other Ohioan competing in the event.
Stricker captured $1.1 million as his champion's portion of the tournament's $6.4 million total purse.
The PGA Tour will swing next week to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Pebble Beach. Dustin Johnson captured the crown in 2009 and he will lead a field chasing the $6.2 million purse.
