Pines Unkind to Buckeye Staters
Written by Shea McMahon
In a weekend full of what-ifs and tragic tumbles, it was Ben Crane that held on to capture the 2010 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
Â
While Crane's final round 70 captured what many view as the opening weekend for the biggest names, Ohioans struggled to find their groove at the La Jolla, Calif. course.
Â
Ben Curtis turned in the top performance as he finished in a tie for 42nd place, carding a 71 today to close the tournament at two-under.
Â
Jason Dufner made the cut, but struggled mightily over the weekend, posting a 76 Saturday and 77 today to close out the tournament at a five-over 293.
Â
Joe Ogilvie turned in a respectable 71 Thursday and 72 Friday, but failed to make the cut for the first time of the 2010 season.
Â
Rookie Chris Wilson went 72-78 and also failed to make the Friday cut.
Â
The tour will move up the coast for next weekend's Northern Trust Open at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Phil Mickelson will look to defend his title with NBC carrying the weekend coverage.
