In our second edition of "The Weekend Ahead," Ohio's Golf will preview the return to action for the Kent State men, talk about a busy weekend for the Bearcats and take a sneak peak at "Big Monday."
NCAA Men's Golf
Cincinnati
This weekend's tournament: Seminole Intercollegiate - The Bearcats enter the weekend coming off a disappointing finish at last weekend's Ron Smith/USF Invitational where they finished in 22nd place. Looking to bounce back from last weekend's setback, the Cincinnati men have their eyes set on the upcoming Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla. The Bearcats will need production from Joe Kastelic and David Tepe, who led their squad at the USF Invite last weekend, if they want to succeed at the three-day tournament beginning Friday.
Kent State
This weekend's tournament: General Hackler Championship - The Golden Flashes will participate in their second tournament of the spring when they travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C., to compete in the General Hackler Championship beginning Sunday (Mar. 14). Kent State grabbed ninth place out of 15 teams at the Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 23 in their Spring 2010 opener. Look for big-time production out of junior John Hahn, who was named MAC Player of the Week on Feb. 24, and Brett Cairns, who won the Windon Memorial last fall, this weekend at the two-day tournament in Myrtle Beach.

NCAA Women's Golf
Akron
This weekend's tournament: 3rd Annual Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate - The University of Akron women's golf team is coming off a disappointing second-to-last place finish (17th) at last weekend's Rio Verde Invitational in Arizona. On Sunday (Mar. 14), they will look to put last weekend's blemish behind them as they head to Victoria, Texas, to compete in the 3rd Annual Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate.
Cincinnati
This weekend's tournament: Low Country Intercollegiate - Bambee Dela Paz led the Bearcats to a top-ten finish at last weekend's Rio Verde Invitational after she finished in 13th place overall. This weekend, the Cincinnati junior will try to carry her team again at the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. The two-day tournament will begin on Saturday (Mar. 13).

Sneak Peak...
Four Ohio schools may be competing this weekend at tournaments all over the nation, but Monday (Mar. 15) will be an even busier day for Ohio's Golf, as nine teams from Ohio will be in action: the Kent State men will wrap up the General Hackler, the Akron women will head home from Victoria, the Cleveland State men's and women's golf teams will travel to the South Dakota Invitational and the Xavier women and Youngstown State men will be in action, but the big story on Monday will be the start of the 2010 Rio Pinar Invitational from Orlando, Fla., which features the men's golf teams from Akron, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo. Check back with OhiosGolf.com for more information and updates regarding the upcoming weekend and Mar. 15's "Big Monday" over the next several days.
